Today we had a great day with Melania! She is just incredible! We met her at a brand new mall still under construction to see the new Body Shop. The shop is going to do phenomenal business. With her behind the wheel it cant fail.
We spent about an hour in the shop just going over different stuff and chatting and then she took us to one of the wealthiest parts of Mexico to have lunch in this old hacienda. The restaurant was so beautiful and the food was amazing! It was my first time in an actual hacienda and man do I want one! I cant believe that at one time someone actually lived there. They had this annual bazaar going on as well that benefits hurricane victims and I bought this cool prayer shrine to Che Guereva. For those of you that dont know who he is get to work on educating yourself. He was the man! It´s a photo of him with a caption that says the world is becoming too conservative and the leftist´s are losing ground. Because of this a new revolutionary and revolution will soon come to make things right. AHHHHH! I cant wait....
After a great lunch ( I felt like a rich person in Beverly Hills having afternoon lunch with my friends - that´s how upscale and ta-ta this place was) we drove to another one of her shops and actually helped her re-merchandise her shop. It was actually fun and we had a blast. Very strange since we are on vacation-and Rose doesn´t even work for the company anymore LOOL.
It was awesome to see her and spend time with her in Mexico. I usually only see her 2-3 times a year at big meetings and we never really get alot of time to chat so this was great! We made plans with her for Saturday. She´s going to take us to this place about an hour away that´s like a ¨paradise¨as she says. This should be cool. There´s a pristine beach with very little people and crystal clear water and a jungle. I can´t wait! What a way to end the whole trip! Anyway....it was a good day and i´m very exhausted. Tomorrow we´re going to the Anthropology museum which is supposed to be one of the biggest in the world. So of course I will love that!
I have to also comment on the disparity that I see here between the rich and the poor. To have been witness to such poverty and despair over the first few days here in the center of the city and then witness what I did today is outright astonishing! I saw $1 million + homes, BMW´s, Mercedes, Louis Vuitton shops, Gucci, Prada, Hermes and so on just 30-40 mintues from an area where people with one leg are literally laying on the street and in the gutter begging for food. Women with children they cant feed, handicapped people living off the crumbs of others and so on. It´s just unbelievable! Not that I condone robbery and violence but when you are living in squalor just minutes from such gregarious displays of wealth how can you not be driven to those things. If I were one of the poor and destitute in the city I cant honestly say that I wouldnt be robbing and stealing as well. Mexico has the 5th most Billionaires in the world! If all of them just gave away 30% of there wealth to help the poor and get this country out of the hole it´s in, it would make a huge difference. But of course there 18th car or brand new yacht is more important. I´m not going to act like these disparities don´t exist in America or Europe because they do, but they´re not so obvious or severe. At least in America and Europe there is some sort of social welfare system in place to help people but I dont think something like that exists here, at least not in a way that matters.
I´m torn becuse I´m not going to act like being in that part of town wasnt enjoyable. It was. I had a great time and it felt good to be in that enviroment. I feel bad for enjoying it so much. But it also makes me think about the other side. The fact that it could be me, and the only reason it isnt is because of fate. It´s that simple. The luck of the draw.
I´ve never been happier or felt more fortunate to draw such a good hand.
That´s it....
