Well there really isnt anything to really talk about for today. Nothing major happened. We just took it easy, slept late and just wandered around the city center. We went to the historic center and visited Mexico´s version of Central Park, which was actually not to bad. That part of the city is much nicer and it feels more like a major city. Much more modernized. It started pouring down rain in the late afternoon so we had a quick bite at the hotels so-so restaurant and now were in the hotel bar chilling. Rose is watching the World Series and of course I´m not.
I really do like Mexico and I think I would really love the other parts of the country more. However I dont see myself coming back here for many many years. I have too many places In Europe to see and then it´s off to Asia and India. Mexico just cant compare. This was just a quick second holiday before heading into the hectic xmas season. I think if I ever decide to do a quickie again it will be to Brazil or maybe Canada. I would love to go to Brazil though and travel down the Amazon on a Eco-Adventure. How cool! ´
I´m picking up more and more Spanish and the more I do the more I enjoy being here. That´s normal of course because I feel less like an outsider. I´m defintley a strong believer that if you´re going to visit a country - especially for an extended period of time- you gotta at least learn the basics. It makes your time easier and more enjoyable, plus it´s just basic respect. I´m really going to invest in learning a language asap. I have too. With my ïnternational aspirations¨, it only makes sense. Plus it will help those aspirations become a reality...whoo hoo...(sorry mom-get those frequent flier miles ready).
We met these people here tonight that are from Ireland but live in Australia and are travelling for a conference to Mexico and then to Cuba! COME ON!!!! What have I done wrong in my life? Why can´t that be me. It will be...one day!
Rose wants me to add that all the sinks here are automated and she fucking hates that! BTW...she is weird...god forbid you put an umbrella on the table or your shoes on the bed, AND DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT CURSING!!! Wrong move...A New Yorker that doesnt curse..what´s that about?? LOOL Plus she cant divide by ten....A DSM that cant divide by ten... you gotta wonder.
Some strange differences in Mexico...
1) All milk, soda, and water are served warm in restaurants. What the fuck is that about? Ever heard of a refrigerator? Even when you order cereal they send you hot milk?????
2) Everyone is poor but everyone has cars, has an American Express -which by the way is accepted everywhere-literally, and there is a bank on every corner. Why if there is no money???
3) None of the fast food chains serve fish sandwhiches... ?????????
4) Whats up with the milk? Did a goat throw up? Is it even real milk? Does real milk last until 2007? Dont think so!
5) Why are tacos called taquito´s in Mexico. Is that why there is no Taco Bell? No Taco Bell in Mexico..can you believe that? But there is a Fridays and a Chile´s-HELLO! I even saw a Rainforest cafe in the mall yesterday. COME ON!
Anyway...thats just few of the strange things. I´m sure i´ll think of more later.
Hope all is well in the states, Romania, England, Indonesia and Canada. (Can you believe that people from all these countries read this and none of them fucking post!- you will all die one day by my hands!)
Buenos Noches
