Okay we are back in the city and what a great couple of days it has been! It was the best decision in the world to stay over at the pyramids because we just had the most relaxing time. The hotel was great but I´ll get to that later. First....
TEOTIHUACAN!!!!!!!!!!!
This was truly an awe inspiring experience. I´ve been fascinated by pyramids my whole life and the fact that I´ve been able to visit some and climb them is truly a dream come true. Now I know why I work so hard - to do things like this. So here we go...
Teotihuacan is an ancient city that was built by an unknown culture around 1000 b.c.e. and when it reached it´s zenith around 400 b.c.e it was the 7th largest city in the world with over 220,000 people. The city itself is huge and I would guess it´s actually bigger than Washington D.C. When the city was found by the Aztec´s around 100 b.c.e. it was vacated and no one knows what happened to the people that built it. The complex itself consists of many structures but is highlighted by 2 pyramids - The Pyramid of the Moon and The Pyramid of the Sun. The Pyramid of The Sun is the biggest and it was sooooo hard to climb. You actually have to climb it like they built it-in stages. It was one of the most awesome experiences of my life to climb to the top of that Pyramid and just look out over the land and the rest of the complex. I really didnt want to come down. It was sort of like a dream. I took alot of really good pictures so I will post them when I get home. There were caverns you could go into, tunnels you´re not supposed to climb through (but I did - really cool) and temples and altars with beautiful drawings and art work. Just walking the whole site was amazing.
When we arrived there we were given a personal guided ¨tour¨of how they made the statues and artwork. The stuff was so beautiful I could´ve bought it all. They also showed us this giant Aloe-like plant called Agave that is amazing and is a plant of all trades. It´s the plant where tequila comes from and a liquid that is an aphrodisiac. Of course I had to try both of these at the same time and it took me about an hour to recover. Alcohol has never been my thing so a big shot of Tequila and that Aphrodisiac drink had me lit up! I will never do that again! The plant also produces: needle And thread, paper, fiber for rope, and soap and shampoo. They showed us how to extract all that from the plant and it´s the most amazing thing. It´s no wonder this is considered a sacred plant when it gives the people all that. I bought a really cool mexican poncho and blanket from there as well as an authentic aztec statue.
We stayed at this hotel about a mile away called Hotel Quinto Del Sol and it was actually a great hotel. We had a huge deck off our rooms and it had a pool and a great restaurant (THE BEST GRILLED SHRIMP IN THE WORLD!!). We spent a lot of time in the hotel bar drinking, smoking, playing chess and laughing our asses off, and yes I kicked Rose´s ass big time in all the games (I was chess champion in middle school-HELLO). It was a great night and a great couple of days. Today we went back to the site and visited the Pyramid of The Moon which is smaller than the other but no less magnificent. Again it was an amazing experience.
Now we´re back in the city and I actually feel good about being here. It was great to get out of the hectic, smelly part of the city and see the other parts and I feel like I´ve accomplished a huge goal in my life. I got a lot of sun so I have a great tan going and my hair is turning white so I have that been on vacation look. Plus with as much walking and climbing we´ve done the past few days I know I´ve lost at least a few pounds. I´m actually eating much better than I thought I would here (love refried beans!) and the people are getting more tolerable, although if I knew jujitsu or kung fu there would be some injured mexicans limping around right about now! All I ask is you not judge me as an american and treat me as I treat you. Unfortunatley I think there has been too much damage to the American image to ever repair for some people (Thank You fuck face POTUS). Anyway... things are going well and tomorrow we see Melania! WHOO HOO! I know she´s going to show us a great day with lots of autehntic mexican food, dance, song, etc. I cant wait! She´s the QUEEN!
One last note....WHERE ARE THE POSTINGS? My mother is crippled right now (sorry mom-love ya!) and she manages to post. The rest of you are a bunch of see you next thursdays! (Not you Pat since you posted-plus I would never risk my life by calling you that-LOOL) but for the rest of you it´s on! POST!!!!!!!!!!
Till tomorrow!

Since I am travleing with Paul and have just read his blog, I feel obligated to add a comment. (someone has to!!)
It was great to get out of the city for a couple of days to explore. The pyramids were incredible. I also must add that for someone who smokes cigarettes on a daily basis, I am in damn good shape. Gave Paul a run for his money!
Middleman... hmmm. Havent been called that in ages, but I guess as a retailer wheeling and dealing comes with the territory!
I have to agree with Paul with his view surrounding the smell of poverty within the city. It is intense to say the least. And for the locals: why do you to give me the dirty looks and make those snide remarks? Have I somehow offended you by giving you my hard earned money?
Back on the positive side. I am soooo looking forward to spending the day with someone other than Paul tomorrow (hehehe)Just kidding Paul! Melania has promised to show us a great time. Looking forward to it.
Hasta Le Vista
