Pure Bliss

Okay finally a computer that works well. It's actually a laptop which is very cool! Anyway....
I'm having a great time here at the Popeye internet coffeshop (gotta love it) and it's been a great day today.

The flight over was good from JFK to Amsterdam (by the way JFK was a mess-what's going on up there?) thanks to this really cool girl I was sittig next to. Her name was Michelle and she was dutch and we had the best time. We have very similar personalties and sense of humor and we had each other cracking up the whole flight. I think some people near us were ready to stage a revolt. We had a great time. The flight is very long (7 hours) so it's good to have someone to talk to to pass the time.

I'm actually staying at a hostel this year which I havent done for a long time. I'm loving it though. It's in Leidesplein which is the area where all the clubs, restaurants and shops are. So it's the best area to be in. Plus i've already met alot of young people from all over the world (Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Japan and Ghana) who are backpacking and have a stay over in the hostel. Very cool. I took a nap earlier after I checked in and it was so nice.

I've been walking along the canals savouring the dutch way of life. I've already been shopping at the market. I bought my bread and cheese and tea. So i'm ready for breakfast tomorrow. It's the simple things like this I love doing when I come here. I just want to blend in.

Tonight I'm going to a comedy club called boom chicago. It's one of the most famous clubs in Europe and apparently is really fun. Robin Williams, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris rock have all done stand up their when theyve been in town'. Later i'm taking in a movie (Pirates of the carribean 2) at this theater that is so beautiful. It's twice the size of the Senator (so mom you know what I mean) and it was the first theater in Amsterdam. It's almost worth going to stare at the room-fuck the movie! Tomorrow it's biking to a small town outside th city center for a late lunch and then tomorrow night i'm taking in a drum and bass club.

To sum up my day I'll tell you about the quintessential Amsterdam moment I had earlier (at least to me it is). I was sitting at this canal side cafe near the city center enjoying a nice orange tea. Thier was this couple from Prague that was sitting next to me that I was chatting with about European and American politics and across the canal was a man playing the Godfather theme (I kid you not) on a violin - perfectly. I remember just sitting their and pausing to take in the moment and thinking that this is PURE BLISS.

Till tomorrow.....!!

Paul
